Life Updates + 1st Annual Reader Survey
Oh man, where do I start? So much has been happening behind-the-scenes around here for the past couple months! I barely even know where to begin! So, I’ll give a mini-update on everything. I have no idea if you’re interested, but it might explain a lot, so here we go.
Wedding planning is just a portion of the craziness. Luckily, the big wedding details have been taken care of and arranged.
We finally got our engagement pictures taken at the end of June (after more than 5 attempts due to poor weather!). We’ve finished our tastings (best part), picked a caterer, decided on the flowers (I have a major girl crush on my florist, hopefully she will never read this!), sent out our Save the Dates (a month earlier than I intended, because I apparently can’t count properly #weddingbrain), met with our potential DJ yesterday, and I’ve been browsing  invitations on Minted for the past month.
Ok, invitations (and invitation samples!) are my second favorite part of the process. Oh, and I have my dress!
PHEW. Oh, wait. That’s just the beginning!
Some of you may have noticed that I updated my ‘About‘ page a month or so ago, and alluded to another very big change in my life. In August (ok, July, technically), I made the incredibly scary, exciting, and anxiety-provoking decision to leave my full-time ‘normal’ job working as a marketing and communications manager for a specialty fine foods company in the DC area. It is definitely the scariest decision that I have ever made in my entire life. On that note, I have to give a major shout-out to my incredibly inspiring friend, Jessica, for encouraging me (ad nauseam) along the way.
I’m an incredibly risk-averse person! Like, to a fault. I can blame my family for that gene, we are all major worry warts. I’ve slowly gotten better at this over the years, but it does not come easily to me…AT ALL.
So what am I doing exactly? I’m taking a leap of faith and am trying to pursue this crazy full-time food blogging, recipe developing, freelance food photography thing that I’ve become so passionate about over the years.
I have a few side projects that are helping to support this decision, but this is my new main gig. I can’t really believe it. And this is where you come in!
I want to thank YOU, from the bottom of my heart, for visiting this site, leaving your comments and thoughts, sending emails, following along in any form or capacity, subscribing to my e-newsletter, and encouraging and giving me (even if you didn’t know you were!) the confidence to even think (the jury is still out!) that I can pull this off.
It means more to me than you will ever know! I am so grateful. And terrified (baby steps), but oh so excited! You only live once, right?
On that note, I’ve been wanting to conduct a reader survey on the blog for over a year! I have a few ideas in the pipeline, but would love to hear from you guys directly! I want to know what makes you tick, what types of recipes you’d like to see more (or less) of, and learn a little bit more about YOU!
Do you want dessert recipes to be measured in ounces and grams? Do you want more content? Less content? Lifestyle or wedding-related posts? Cooking tips and tricks? Really, I want to know it all! Dish.
I would be so grateful if you could take a minute or two to take the survey below. I’ll be taking all of the information (all anonymous, by the way!) and using the information to help improve the site. Thank you in advance for taking the time!
You can take the reader survey here. Have a great weekend friends!

SO happy to hear you’ve taken the plunge into FT food blogging — congrats! You’re going to rock it, I just know it. 🙂 And that engagement photo is beautiful!
Thank you, thank you, thank you Steph! I hope so! (AGH.)
Good luck! I am extremely risk averse too, and I applaud anyone who takes a bold step.
Thank you so much Maddy! Means a lot!
If you can, you might want to update the survey to include Europe as an option for “Where do you live”. Can’t really identify with any of the others 😉
Good luck for both your freelance-life and the wedding preparations, best wishes!
Oh no! I must have missed that somehow or erased a response? Thank you for letting me know! (#weddingbrain)
Unfortunately I can’t fix this until I have access to my computer later today, but feel free to skip that question or write “Europe” under other option! Thanks Zera! Appreciate you taking the time!
Ooooh what beautiful engagement pictures! I remember planning my wedding – so stressful but so exciting! And you’ve got your dress! Can’t wait to see some wedding pics 🙂
Wow, I can only begin to imagine how scary it is to give up your job – but your blog is so lovely, I’m sure it was 100% worth the nightmares!
Thank you so much! Wedding planning is definitely stressful at time (ok, most of the time), but it is also fun! I can’t wait to share the wedding pictures too. Guess that will have to wait until most likely May or June! That feels so far away!
And thank you so much for the well wishes Nora! It means a lot, really.

Thank you, thank you Molly! I sometimes feel like curling up into a ball in the corner, and freaking out, but it IS exciting! 🙂 Oh my gosh, I am SURE you have your wedding plans under control (and yours will be amazing!). I’m not as on top of it as it seems!
I am so happy for you girl!! You are just killing and um, those engagement photos are so cute!
