Banana Chocolate Green Monster
I finally broke out my trial Chocolate Amazing Grass packet, which I bought at Whole Foods about 2 months ago and made a breakfast smoothie.
I can honestly tell you that I didn’t taste even a hint of grass, let alone vegetable in this Banana Chocolate Green Monster. It resembles a chocolate peanut butter milk shake in flavor and texture, and the hint of coconut is a great addition!
Banana Chocolate Green Monster
Ingredients
- ⅔ cup (160 mL) light coconut milk
- ¼ cup (60 mL) Kefir
- 1 packet Chocolate Amazing Grass
- 1 ripe banana preferably frozen
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened natural peanut butter
Instructions
- Combine ingredients in a high powered blender and blend until smooth. Serve.
While I wholly enjoyed this for breakfast, I would prefer this as an afternoon smoothie snack after a work out, as the chocolate was a bit too rich for me first thing in the morning.
I know, I know…I’m lame. I never was one to like cocoa puffs, chocolate-chip pancakes, or even Nutella as a breakfast treat. Blame my mother.

ahh I’m supposed to be preparing for interviews, not looking at all your recipes!
everything looks amazing 🙂 gotta try this when my life calms down.
Hahaha, I know, it’s quite disgusting on it’s own. The lawnmower analogy is perfect. Thanks for commenting! I love hearing from new readers, especially since I can then discover their blog 🙂

I remember the first time I ever had wheatgrass…I read about ALL the benefits of it and I guess failed to realize what I was actually about to do. So I took the shot and was burping up grass for the rest of the night; I felt like a lawnmower and would never do it again on it’s own! haha
Hehe, sorry! 🙂
Okay, those pictures made me REALLY hungry- lol!
That doesn’t sound gross at all, haha. I feel like I could probably get used to the grassy flavor, but I might need to ease my way into it. I should buy a trial packet and see how I like it! Have you had the Amazing Grass bars before?

Ooh, buy some! You can use it for TONS of things–curries, soups, baking (I once added it to a loaf bread I made), and definitely smoothies. I’ve made just a non-Amazing grass banana coconut smoothie before and it was delish. Let me know what you do with it!

Thanks Ash! You were definitely 100% right on the banana and PB addition, the perfect way to ease my way into Amazing Grass/Green Monsters.

Yummmmm. Love your version. It sounds perfect. I haven’t had wheatgrass for awhile or a smoothie. Must change that soon!
This might sound gross, but I love the original amazing grass in vanilla almond milk. Yes, it is bright green… and tastes like, well, grass. But I really started to love the earthiness.
Ooooh I keep eyeing coconut milk every time I go to the grocery store. But I never know what to do with it!! I think I might pick some up now 🙂
