The Sunday Thymes
Connor and I went to one of our favorite DC restaurants, Rasika, last night to celebrate the end of his third year of medical school. Oh my gosh, everything was amazing as always, but I have three new favorites. The cauliflower bezule (top pic: Mangalore-style deep fried cauliflower with mustard seeds, green chiles, curry leaves, and lemon), the Chicken Pudina Korma (chicken in a cashew, mint, and garam masala sauce), and the Rockfish Alleppey Curry (coconut, ginger, and fenugreek seed tomato sauce).
If you ever go to DC, book ahead and try to go to this place! It never disappoints.
And to continue to the food theme as always, here are some of my favorites finds from the past week:
- These strawberry milkshakes with homemade brazil nut milk!
- This beautiful raspberry polenta cake.
- I need to get my hands on some soft-shell crabs! Asap.
- So.many.burgers.
- These fritters look so good.
- How have I never had fried pickles? I mean, seriously.
- These yucca fries look incredible!
- Woh, woh, woh. Smoked s’mores?!
- Salted Date Caramel Cashew Tart with Mocha Graham Crust. That crust!

Well now I’m REALLY wishing I had gotten to go Rasika while I was there!! Must start planning another DC trip!
Oh my gosh! You have to come back and go–just book it like 2 months in advance 🙂
Ummm, how in the world did I miss it that you live in DC? I’ve been dying to go to Rasika forever but it’s so hard to get in! I’m live in Annapolis!
YES, I do! 🙂 You definitely have to go to Rasika–we planned our reservation about 8 weeks in advance, ugh, but it is so worth it. You live so close!
Love all the links!! Thanks.
Fun read. The Smores got me dessert wise. But over all it
was the Rasika. I had a flash of envy.
I love, love, love Rasika!
I so look forward to your Sunday Thymes… thanks for reminding me that Rasika must be added to my list of must-visit restaurants!
That meal looks fabulous! Rasika is new to me, but looks like a stop is in order. And eek, soft shell crabs. Despite being a born-and-bred Marylander, soft shells are just one thing I cannot do! But hard shell crabs and my Old Bay? Summer through and through. 🙂
